Two players no longer with Hurricanes at the start of fall camp

CORAL GABLES — Linebacker Sam Brooks Jr. and offensive lineman Cleveland Reed Jr. are no longer with the Hurricanes, a UM spokesperson said Friday.

Both players were left off the roster at the start of fall camp, which began Friday.


Reed, a fifth-year lineman, played in 15 games for the Hurricanes. Last season, he appeared in five games. He played 43 snaps last season — 28 on the offensive line and 15 on special teams. Most of his work came against Central Connecticut State.

Reed, a Fort Meade native, was a four-star prospect in the 2018 class.


Brooks, a Miami native, was entering his fourth season of college football. He played in 19 games over three seasons at UM, making 55 total tackles with three tackles for loss.

Brooks played in only two games (22 total snaps) last season due to injuries. He wa a three-star prospect coming out of Miami Northwestern High in 2019.
