MIAMI, FL – The NBA announced today that Miami HEAT forward Jimmy Butler has been named to the 2022-23 All-NBA Second Team. It marks Butler’s fifth career All-NBA selection, including his third in four seasons with the HEAT. It is also the 22nd time a HEAT player has been named to an All-NBA Team, including the seventh on the Second Team.
Butler, who finished second in the NBA for steals per game, averaged a team-high 22.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.83 steals and 33.4 minutes while shooting a single-season career high 53.9 percent from the field. His 22.9 scoring average, paired with Bam Adebayo (20.4) and Tyler Herro (20.1), marked the first trio in HEAT franchise history to each average at least 20 points in a single season. Butler shot at least 50 percent from the field in a career-high 10-straight games from November 16 through December 28. He recorded 27 points, eight assists, six rebounds and six steals while connecting on four three-point goals and a perfect 7-of-7 from the line on October 27 at Golden State, becoming the first player in team history to produce at least each of those totals in a game and just the third HEAT player with that many points, assists, rebounds and steals in a game, joining only Dwyane Wade (March 2, 2009 vs. Cleveland) and Sherman Douglas (December 8, 1989 vs. Orlando). Butler shot a perfect 23-of-23 from the line on January 10 vs. Oklahoma City, tying the second-most made without a miss in league history, while also helping Miami to a perfect 40-of-40 from the stripe in the game, the most made without a miss by any team in NBA history. Butler went perfect from the line, with at least 10 attempts, three different times this season, tying for the second-most occasions during a single-season in team history. He scored at least 20 points in nine-straight games from March 6 through March 22, tying the third-longest 20-point streak of his career. Additionally, Butler led the HEAT in scoring average, total assists, assists per game, assist-to-turnover ratio, total steals, steals per game, free throws made, 20-point games and three-point plays while ranking second in points, 30-point games, double-figure scoring efforts, field goal percentage, offensive rebounds, total rebounds and dunks.
