Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix Welcomes Pierre Gasly For A Tour

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. Formula 1 race winner Pierre Gasly paid a visit to
the new Miami International Autodrome and the Hard Rock Stadium, home
of the Miami Dolphins NFL team, during his off-season in the United
States last week.

The AlphaTauri driver was given an exclusive first look at the venue
that will host the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix on May 6-8, 2022. Gasly
enjoyed a guided tour of the 5.41km circuit to see the construction
work being undertaken in preparation for the inaugural race. He was
also presented with a Miami Dolphins NFL shirt featuring his name and
the number 10, which is the same number he races with in Formula 1.

“I was really impressed,” said Gasly during his visit. “The track
looks really cool, especially with the two very long straights. In
terms of racing and overtaking possibilities, it’s going to be pretty
amazing. It should be a great show for all the fans.”

Accompanied by his personal trainer, Gasly also took the opportunity
to spend time in the Miami Dolphins’ Baptist Health Training Complex
for an intensive workout session. The Frenchman has been enjoying time
in the United States during the F1 off-season and has attended a
number of games in sports such as the NFL, NBA and NHL.

“Miami is a cool place, so I’m excited to come here and spend time
discovering the city,” added the 25-year-old. “I love the
entertainment industry here, so I’m really looking forward to see how
the Miami Grand Prix will be. All of my friends and all the fans are
looking forward to this one and I’m excited about having a good race
here.”

Gasly added the appeal of Formula 1 had dramatically increased in
America recently, partly due to the success of Netflix’s Drive to
Survive series, he said: “Coming here a couple of years ago, people
didn’t really have much of an idea about Formula 1. They knew about
NASCAR and IndyCar, but F1 wasn’t that popular. Netflix has really
opened us up to a new audience and it’s been incredible to see the
evolution over the past two or three years in America.”
