I am all in on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air reboot. Aptly titled Bel Air.
While actor Will Smith portrayed the titular character on the original
‘90s sitcom, which was based on his own journey from Philadelphia to
Los Angeles, the Peacock series gives the story a modern-day twist and
it is dope.
The release of Morgan Cooper’s 2019 short film, Bel-Air — in which he
rethought Smith’s life and the comedy show as a dramatic tale — gave
life to the upcoming series. It should also be noted that the real
life Fresh Prince of Bel Air is actually music industry veteran Benny
Medina just ask Will Smith.
“Benny Medina is the real-life Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Smith
admitted. “He actually went from Watts [California] to Beverly Hills.
Same basic concept, way shorter distance.”
Whatever or however the concept of a reboot works. People always talk
about bringing back classic TV series or movies. Well this remix works
like a Puff Daddy remix in the 90’s. Everything is great, the acting,
the music and it is edgy. I love edgy.
Bel-Air stars newcomer Jabari Banks as the Philly native who must find
his way in the wealthy L.A. neighborhood of Bel Air. He has big shoes
to fill however the kid has got the goods. Check it out for yourself.
Bel Air is now streaming on Peacock. Thank me later.
